Choose your bidder number ranges

Set the range guests' numbers come from, when they're given out, and the separate walk-up block.

Every guest's bidder number comes from the event's range. Walk-ups at the door get theirs from a separate walk-up block. Numbers belong to one event only: 143 at this event has nothing to do with 143 at another.

Your range

A new event's range runs from 101 to 400. To change it:

  1. Open the event and choose the Settings tab.
  2. Go to Guests and passes › Bidder numbers.
  3. Under Range, type the first and last number.
  4. Press Review & save, then Save changes.

Starting at 101 keeps every number three digits, which reads better across a room. Change the range before guests are given numbers.

A range can hold up to 10,000 numbers. You can't make it narrower than the numbers guests already hold: Paddlit says how many are outside it, so you can release them first or keep the range wider.

When numbers are given out

Under Assign the number, choose:

  • At registration: each guest gets a number when they're added, so it's on their pass before the night.
  • At check-in: guests get a number when they arrive, so there are no gaps from people who didn't come.

Either way, a guest is given the lowest number that's free. For guests without a number, the door gives one out at check-in as long as Assign a number at check-in if missing is on, under On the night › Door.

Reuse released numbers decides what happens when you take a number back from a guest. On, it can go to the next guest who needs one. Off, it's retired for this event.

The walk-up block

Walk-ups get numbers from 900 to 949 unless you choose another block. Change it under On the night › Door › Walk-up number block. The block can't overlap your main range: if it does, Paddlit asks you to fix that before saving, so walk-ups stay easy to spot.

Holding numbers back

On the event's Bidder numbers screen (press Open bidder numbers on the event's overview), you can set numbers aside so they're never given out by themselves, for example for a sponsor's table:

  • Tap a free number to hold it back, with a note of who it's for.
  • Press Hold a range… to hold up to 200 numbers at once.
  • Tap a held number to give it to the guest it's for, or press Return to the pool.
  • Tap a number a guest has to release it.

Giving a guest a number updates the pass on their phone by itself. Releasing a number warns you first that a pass already on their phone will show a number that no longer matches.
