Donation receipts
Every payment gets a numbered receipt in your name, with the tax-deductible amount once your nonprofit status is checked.
Every payment taken through Paddlit gets a receipt by email straight away. It comes in your organisation's name, with your logo and colours and your own thank-you message.
What a receipt shows
- A receipt number. Receipts are numbered for your organisation, starting at 1001.
- The date, what was paid for, any card fee the payer chose to cover, the total, and how they paid.
- Your thank-you message, and who it's signed by.
Write your thank-you message
- Go to Organisation settings and open Getting paid.
- Under Receipts, write your Thank-you message (up to 600 characters) and who it's Signed by.
- Press Save. Press See a receipt to see a sample before any go out.

The tax-deductible amount
Once your organisation is checked as a registered 501(c)(3), receipts show your EIN and the tax-deductible amount. Until then, receipts carry no tax wording, just a note to keep them for their records.
To check it:
- Go to Organisation settings and find Nonprofit status.
- Press Check our nonprofit status.
- Type your EIN (federal tax ID) and press Look it up. Paddlit looks it up on the IRS list of tax-exempt organisations.
- If it finds your organisation, press That's us, or Not us if it isn't. If it can't find your EIN, press Ask for a check by hand.

A close match is confirmed straight away. Anything else is checked by hand at Paddlit within 2 working days, and you're emailed the outcome.
This works on every plan.

When a payer got something back, such as dinner, the receipt says what they received and its value, and that the rest is a gift. When they got nothing back, it says no goods or services were provided in return.
Sending one again
Open the guest's row on Collecting pledges, or the gift on Giving, and press Send the receipt again.
